In news we never thought we’d be typing, YouTube star Logan Paul is set to fight Hall of Fame boxing champion Floyd Mayweather in what will undoubtedly be quite an interesting showdown.

Announcing the shock news over social media, Mayweather revealed he’d once again be coming out of retirement to fight the 26-year-old in an exhibition bout at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on June 6.

Logan Paul – famed for his controversial Suicide Forest video on YouTube – also confirmed the news over Twitter, writing: “It’s finally official… fighting @FloydMayweather at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Sunday, June 6. LET’S FUCKING GOOOOOOO.”

The pair were initially set to get in the ring for the highly-anticipated bout on February 20 of this year, but the event was postponed.

“The Mayweather fight is pushed (back) which I am completely OK with,” Paul said back in February.

“The fight’s still happening (but) we want to have a packed arena somewhere and then the business side of things, we have to iron them out.

“He’s got a lot of people on his team, Al Haymon got involved, if you know boxing, you know what that means for getting an actual deal done and figuring out a venue.”

Despite being significantly older than the eldest Paul brother, 43-year-old Mayweather continues to boast an untainted 50-0 career record, despite not having fought since a 2018 exhibition against a Japanese kickboxer.

Mayweather’s last pro bout was against UFC legend Conor McGregor, with the boxing veteran taking out the fight via TK.

Logan Paul has twice fought against fellow YouTuber KSI, with the first bout ending in a majority draw before KSI won the rematch.

Of course, the Twitterverse has gone off over the news of the mismatch of epic proportions, with many suggesting the YouTuber with nearly 30 million subscribers doesn’t stand a chance against the undefeated boxing champion.

According to the odds, they probably aren’t wrong, with various sportsbooks stating that Mayweather will open as a -2000 favorite while Paul will open at +900, which amounts to a 9/1 underdog.

Either way, we’ll be grabbing our popcorn for this.
