‘Love Island’ star Cassidy McGill has issued an apology for posting a picture of herself with unexplained white powder.

Love Island Australia star Cassidy McGill has apologised for posting a picture of herself with an unexplained white powder. McGill posted the picture to her Instagram stories Wednesday last week, following which it quickly went viral and sparked speculations.

Said photo has now been taken down, with McGill apologising to her followers. “This past week I’ve been taking time to reflect on my actions,” McGill said. While she did not clarify what the substance was, she claimed that such behaviour was ‘out of character’ for her.

“I made a mistake, which I do not take lightly. This behaviour is out of character and I am truly sorry to have let you all down. I am sorry to my friends, family and my team and the brands I represent.” she wrote. “I hope over time I can earn your trust and respect back. Thank you to those who have reached out. Love, Cass.”

In the deleted picture, McGill could be seen holding a plate in her lap. Two white lines were visible on the plate. A small bag – allegedly containing the same substance – could also be seen in the shot. She captioned the picture: “Ooops, see you tomorrow.”

Last week, a screenshot of the story was shared by an influencer-watch account on Instagram. McGill’s face was cropped out, with the post only terming her an ‘unnamed local influencer’. The caption also said: “Posted on stories tonight & deleted very quickly. Female, Sydney, ex-reality.”

While the account removed the picture shortly after, people had already caught on and started speculating what would become of McGill’s deals with the brands she endorses.
