Love Island winner Claudia has shared how her partner Austen officially asked her to be his girlfriend.

Claudia and Austen were crowned the winners of Love Island last night. But, while they’d already said “I love you” to one another, they hadn’t officially defined their relationship.

The show’s finale was filmed months ago, and Claudia has now shared that Austen has since asked her to be his girlfriend.

Claudia told So Dramatic! that she and Austen were waiting to meet each other’s families before labeling their relationship and became official in late October.

“He met my family and as soon as he met them, the next day he bought me a Funko Pop! figure. He bought me a Pokemon, an Eevee one,” Claudia said, adding: “I love Eevee. It’s so nerdy!”

She continued, “He comes back and says ‘I’ve got a gift for you’ and give me an amazing speech that was really, really sweet. He asked me to be his girlfriend.”

Austen added, “I went shopping because I went, ‘to give her something when I ask her to be my girlfriend. What can I give her?’ I was looking at jewellery [at first].

“Then I went into this store and saw the Eevee figure and I was like: ‘That’s it. That is the gift I’m going to give her. She will freaking love this’,” he said.

While Austen and Claudia won the reality show last night, in true Love Island style, only one of them received the money. Claudia opened an envelope saying she won the $50,000, while Austen’s envelope was empty. Claudia chose “love” instead of money, and opted to share the $50,000 with her partner.

Claudia shared a loving Instagram post about Austen after the finale aired, thanking him for “being on this journey” with her.

“Still can’t believe I found someone as amazing as you. I can’t put into words how thankful I am for you. You have proved to the world (and me) that there ARE still decent men out there. You have shown loyalty, patience (sorry), forgiveness and an insane amount of maturity.  Whatever happens, I have you and that’s all I can ask for. I love you so much, thank you for being on this journey with me,” she wrote.
