Love Island star Jordan Dowsett says that reports of him pleading guilty to driving a golf buggy while drunk are ‘misleading.’

Love Island Australia star Jordan Dowsett has claimed that media reports of him pleading guilty to drunk-driving a golf buggy have been twisted to be ‘misleading’.

In an interview with So Dramatic!, Dowsett claimed that coverage of the incident had glossed over some aspects. “I think youse know all about it, by the looks of it. I think youse have got it all covered, by the looks. Bit misleading things in there [sic]. That’s what news is, they’ll twist it around a bit.” he told the publication.

When pressed for what about the coverage had been so, however, Dowsett declined to comment. “It’s alright. I’ll leave that to you. You should be able to make some good content out of it.” Right.

In November, Dowsett was pulled over by the police in the early hours of the morning while driving a golf buggy in the Gold Coast area. According to reports, authorities noted that his speech was ‘partially slurred’, along with a strong smell of liquor around him.

Dowsett claimed he had consumed a ‘moderate amount of liquor,’ which was confirmed in two blood alcohol ratio tests. Later in November, he defended himself before a Magistrate against the charges. His lawyer claimed that while he had entered the buggy as a passenger, he had later made the ‘stupid decision’ to drive it.

Dowsett’s possible 12-month-ban was eventually reduced to six months. Earlier in December, however, Love Island star Phoebe Han alleged that Dowsett had actually Snapchatted videos and pictures of himself driving the buggy under the influence to a private group with the rest of the cast.

“I was like ‘oh my God’, honestly. We have a Snapchat group [and] he was sending us Snapchats from that night on the golf buggy,” she told So Dramatic! “So I was like, ‘oh my God, of course’… He was done for drunk driving. That’s immature!”
