After MAFS star Al Perkins was spotted filming Love Island Australia, Sophie Monk has confirmed that he’s definitely headed to the villa.
With Married At First Sight star Al Perkins having been spotted filming for Love Island Australia earlier this month, speculations abounded whether he was making a guest appearance or joining the show in a more permanent capacity. Now, Love Island Australia host Sophie Monk has confirmed – more or less – that Al is definitely headed to the villa.
Speaking at a Channel Nine event earlier this week, Sophie claimed that a ‘famous groom’ would be joining the upcoming season of Love Island Australia and, well, with Al’s pictures circling about, it’s not hard to connect the dots.
“We have high-flying real estate agents, we have a soccer player, we have a model, a dancer and we have a famous groom,” she said.
Al became a popular favourite on the latest season of MAFS, where he was paired with Samantha Moitzi. While the ups and downs of their relationship kept viewers hooked to their screens, the pair ultimately decided to call it off at the final commitment ceremony.
While Al himself has been radio silent on his social media – perhaps due to the fact that the upcoming season of Love Island Australia is being shot entirely in advance – Moitzi cheered him on in her Instagram stories.
“[Love Island is] definitely a show a little more up his ally, he always said he would want to go on it, I’m not surprised,” she said. “I wish him the best and I hope he finds love in the villa but to be honest I reckon he’ll just love being with the boys, getting a tan and playing pranks on people in the villa.”

According to reports, Al is also being paid quite the money for his appearance on the show. In addition to a ‘one-off four-figure sum,’ he will be paid a weekly fee of $500 for every week he is on the show.
