Lukas Gage’s sexual identity is questioned by Twitter amid his casting as an LGBTQ character and Gage defends.
Lukas Gage of Euphoria has recently experienced a bit of heat from a Twitter user who was complaining that Gage, who they say is non-LGBTQIA+, taking up roles of LGBTQIA+ characters. Gage then replied, essentially saying that this random person doesn’t know anything about his sexual identity. The discourse then ensued.
“If Hollywood can stop hiring non LGBTQIA+ actors like
to play LGBTQIA+ characters, that would be great. He has played 4 so far. 1 was enough.”

“Why ? Straight guys can play exquisite gay roles and vice versa . Besides, people are so consumed in knowing what the guy next door is, they forget to live their lives. You do you and let everyone be wherever mskes them happy without being poster boys”

“what people need to understand is that 1) everybody has the right to come out in their own terms and 2) just because someone’s only dated people of the opposite sex it doesn’t mean they’re straight. let’s stop assuming people’s sexualities”

“If he doesn’t want to be specific on his sexuality, that’s fine. No one should be forced to be out.
I just also understand how other LGBTQ+ feel. His vagueness on his possible queerness is still seen better in society than open LGBTQ+ people. And that’s disappointing.”
