Get your taste buds ready because the inimitable Lune Croissanterie has confirmed that they’re scoping out places to set up shop in Sydney.
If you’ve ever been to Lune Croissanterie in Melbourne, you know how special these buttery pastries are. Typically, you’ll find a queue leading around the block, hardly a place to stand or sit once inside, and an array of aromas intoxicating your body. Then, you’ll probably leave with a few take-away bags in tow.
Even The New York Times has gone on to say that it may be the best croissant in Australia, stating “the classic beurre, with its holy balance of buttery heft and feathery flake, may be the finest you will find anywhere in the world”.
From your standard, flaky croissant to the more complex lemon curd and pain au chocolat, you’d be hard-pressed to find another croissant that is as sinfully delectable as Lune’s are.
Both of their shops are currently located in Melbourne (specifically in Fitzroy and the CBD). With their fanbase being Australia-wide, it’s been a surprise that they haven’t branched out to more cities.
Luckily, Sydney-siders can stop filling their carry-on luggage to the brim with croissants, as Sydney is set to have their own Lune Croissanterie.
Rumours have been high for the past few months surrounding the expansion of Lune Croissanterie, however in an interview to Broadsheet, owner Katie Reid has confirmed that Sydney will have their flaky, buttery cravings soon satisfied.

“I can tell you that we are currently looking at a few sites, which means that yes, there is a Lune Sydney firmly on the cards,” revealed Reid.
Although there is no timeline set in stone for when Sydney will be receiving their own long-awaited branch of Lune Croissanterie, the news of the expansion being in the works is thrilling news itself.
