MAFS star Martha Kalifatidis was rushed to the hospital after realizing her normally active baby hadn’t moved in a long time.
“I panicked because I didn’t feel the baby moving, like last night or this morning, I just didn’t feel any movement, so we went to the emergency room and they just did a little scan, and we could hear the heartbeat,” Martha said in an Instagram video.
Her fiance and former MAFS ‘husband’ Michael added, “They listened for the heartbeat, which we couldn’t hear for a bit.”
Martha interjected, “We couldn’t hear it at the beginning, and I was freaking out. I was like about to get up off the bed and be like, ‘Get another machine, something’s wrong!'” she said, with Michael adding, “It was like 30 seconds and it felt like a year to us, just staring at each other waiting.”
“It was really horrific, but everything’s fine,” Martha said.
Michael also posted about the scary experience on his own Instagram story. He captioned a photo of Martha sitting in a hospital bed with, This morning was a little stressful. Martha hadn’t felt the baby move for a day, when it’s been super active, so we decided to be safe and get it checked. ”
He then shared a follow up photo of Martha back at home in bed with the caption, “we good though”.

Martha and Michael announced that they were expecting in an Instagram story in September. However, Martha told her followers that her pregnancy has been an uphill battle, as she was diagnosed with a severe case of hyperemesis gravidarum.
“It’s been a minute since we’ve been online, so we wanted to explain our situation and make a little bit of an announcement, and that is that Martha is pregnant,” Michael revealed.
Martha added, “It hasn’t been this exciting wonderful time for us.”
“I don’t want to sound like I am complaining, we are so excited, we are so happy. It was a complete surprise.”
“But at five weeks I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, which is basically severe chronic nausea and vomiting with no relief. It is like 24/7. I literally did not get out of bed for two months, I was so sick. I could not eat or drink anything. There were days that I did not even get up to pee.”
Michael interjected, “And you lost ten kilos.”
Martha continued, “I lost like ten kilos in five weeks we have just been in and out of the emergency room and hospital.”
“Here in Melbourne I’m seeing an amazing doctor and she has given me some medication which has literally been life-changing. It is helping me to feel human again and to start moving around again.”
