Iran is still reeling from the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, the young woman who was brutally killed by the country’s police for allegedly breaking rules on wearing the hijab.

According to a UN report, Amini collapsed at a detention centre after spending three days in custody of Iran’s morality police, and tragically died after being transferred to a hospital. The report stated that she was “severely beaten” during her time in detention.

It’s not just the people of Iran furiously protesting; celebrities and public figures around the world have spoken out about Amini’s death.

Bella Hadid made two posts, expressing her sympathy for Amini’s loved ones and sharing information about the fraught situation in the country. “Rest in peace… You did not deserve this,” the supermodel wrote. “Sending blessings to her family and loved ones.”

Hollywood star Jessica Chastain, who often speaks out about global injustices, made a Twitter post about Amini’s death. “#MahsaAmini is an Iranian woman who was beaten to death last week in a “re-education centre” for not wearing her hijab correctly,” she wrote.

“Her death led to thousands of Iranians taking to the streets, demanding an end to violence and discrimination against women.”

In music, Yungblud, shared a clip of himself on stage detailing his anger about Amini’s death to a huge festival crowd. “I’m so fucking angry,” he shouted. “I am going to fight for expression, I am going to fight for freedom, and I am going to f*cking fight for the woman of Iran right now. The right to express yourself is your right and your right alone.”

Justin Bieber also showed his support for the people of Iran in an Instagram Story, re-posting Eva Mendes’ post about Amini’s death, which contained a picture of a protestor holding up a poster with Amini’s face on it.
