From September 30, anyone who regularly uses the train line between Epping and Chatswood will have their transit majorly interrupted for seven months, while the Sydney Metro Northwest rail link is built.
Buses will replace trains during this time, with 110 services earmarked to run every hour. It is estimated that this will only add ten minutes to commuters’ journeys, although predicting traffic flow — especially with 110 extra buses an hour on the street — is a largely fruitless task. The seven month figure also seems optimistic, while we’re at it.
The stations affected are Epping, Macquarie Park, Macquarie University, North Ryde and Chatswood.
NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance announced the news over the weekend, cheerily reminding people the new link will provide “almost four times as many services that currently run in the peak direction”.
