Actor Mark York, best known for his role as Billy Merchant on The Office, has died. He was 55.
York passed away early in the morning on May 19th at Miami Valley Hospital in Ohio. No cause of death has been revealed, though, per Kreitzer Funeral Home, his sickness was “unexpected” and “brief.”
“Even though he has been paraplegic since, 1988, he had such an outgoing, uplifting, positive attitude and personality. He always tried to look at what he could accomplish and do, not what he couldn’t do. He had experienced many travel opportunities and many dreams for the future,” an obituary for York read.
“He loved TV and the film industry. Mark could quote so many lines from movies and tell you who particular actors were in most movies.
“He spent many years living in California where he had many exciting moments pursuing his acting opportunities. He will be deeply missed by all the lives he has touched.”
Mr York appeared on the second season of The Office, in an episode that saw Michael Scott (Steve Carrell), invite him into the office for a disability-awareness meeting.
Rest in peace.
