Mat George, the co-host of pop culture podcast She Rates Dogs, was struck and killed by a car in Los Angeles on Saturday in what authorities called a hit-and-run. He was 26.
Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the hit-and-run took place in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles at around 2:20am. The LAPD statement said that that a pedestrian had been walking across and unmarked pedestrian crosswalk when a white BMW hit him and drove away. The pedestrian died at the seen.
Whilst the Los Angeles Police Statement did not confirm that the pedestrian was Mat George by name, it linked the pedestrian to a 26-year-old Arizona Resident. Mat George graduated from Arizona State University in 2017.
The Los Angeles Police Department is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information about the hit-and-run driver.
His death was confirmed by Michaela Okland, friend and She Rates Dogs cohost, on Twitter. “I would rather you guys here [sic] this from me than a news article,” Okland wrote. “Mat was killed in a hit and run last night. I don’t really have any other words right now. I wish I could contact everybody who knows him personally but the news is already out and I just can’t do it right now.”

“He loved singing along to songs he didn’t know the words to, pretending to be straight to get on reality dating shows and talking in really bad accents,” Ms. Okland said in a statement.
