Never again will I have to force-feed myself a Big Mac with hash browns for patties at McDonald’s Leongatha on route to Unify Gathering. The golden arches have announced that they will be trialling a vegetarian burger.

The burger will feature a crumbed patty made from potato, peas, corn, carrot, and onion, topped with cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise and pickles.

Unfortunately, we won’t all have access to the burger yet. It is currently being trialled at Mcdonald’s restaurants throughout South Australia. The trial will determine whether it will be rolled out nationally.

“We understand there’s a rising demand for vegetarian options, and we always look to give our customers more of what they want,” shared Jo Feeney, marketing director at McDonald’s Australia.

“We’re excited to be trialling the McVeggie burger in South Australia so our customers can give us feedback on it before we look to serve it up across the country.”

This isn’t the first time Maccas have tried their hand at a vegetarian burger. The fast-food giant trialled a veggie burger a few years back, but apparently, it was not a hit. We’re hoping that the rising number of Australian’s practising a vegetarian diet will influence Maccas decision, but we don’t want to get our hopes up. If all this was just a g up, at least we can take solace in the fact their chips are divine.
