Food delivery service Menulog will step in and assist Australians who have lost Deliveroo vouchers gift cards and credits in light of their recent closure.

On Wednesday, Deliveroo announced that they were shutting down their Australian account immediately. The company admitted that the closure was due to low profits and high competition in the Aussie market.

The news left thousands of Deliveroo customers with unused credits high and dry. Fortunately, Menulog has offered to honor these credits.

Menulog is stepping in to help out thousands of customers left with unused Deliveroo vouchers, gift cards and account credits. We expect there will be a lot of customers with unused Deliveroo vouchers and gift cards, so we would like to give them the opportunity to redeem those vouchers on their next Menulog order,” Menulog Managing Director, Morten Belling said in a statement.

Furthermore, Menulog has implemented an initiative to help former Deliveroo drivers transition to work as couriers for them.

“Menulog is also providing assistance to thousands of workers impacted by the recent announcement from Deliveroo by offering expedited set up on the Menulog network,” Belling said.

He continued: “Couriers who have had their earnings impacted are encouraged to get in touch with Menulog via the hotline email address.

“We know there are couriers out there who will be feeling the impact of this. We can help couriers to get up and running on the Menulog network as a priority and provide any safety gear that is required, helping them get back to delivering orders and earning an income as quickly as possible.

“We also have opportunities for couriers interested in a position in our employed courier trial in select suburbs of Sydney,” he concluded.
