It’s no secret to anybody that Meryl Streep is the GOAT… except, perhaps, Meryl Streep herself.
The three-time Academy Award-winner apparently had no idea her Don’t Look Up co-star Jonah Hill was using the acronym for ‘Greatest Of All Time’ in the movie’s recent press cycle.
“The whole week I’m saying, ‘You know, working with Meryl’s the best, she’s the GOAT, she’s the GOAT,’” Hill told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.
“And then today, we’re doing a press conference, and she’s like, ‘You know, Jonah is so comfortable with me, he’s been calling me a goat all week!’”
He said Streep “wasn’t even offended” by the strange nickname.
“She was just like, ‘I guess he just loves me and is calling me a goat,'” he said.
After Lawrence explained the acronym’s meaning, Streep told Hill, “‘Hey, thanks for calling me the GOAT, I thought you were calling me a goat this whole time!'”

Lawrence also discussed the unfortunate mix-up on her own late show appearance this week.
Speaking to Stephen Colbert, she described Streep’s confusion at the bizarre insult when Lawrence used the term in a photo shoot.
“That’s right, just tell the old goat where to go.” Streep allegedly responded.
“I was like, ‘Meryl, you know that GOAT means greatest of all time, right?” Lawrence said.
She also detailed working in a COVID bubble with her co-stars – which included sharing a bathroom – and losing a veneer, which forced production to CGI her tooth.
Don’t Look Up is a black comedy about the end of the world by Adam McKay.
In it, Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio play scientists who discover a comet that is set to destroy the earth in six months, but the President (Streep) and her son/Chief of Staff (Hill) downplay the situation.
