The high priests of frozen confectionery, Peters and Messina, have joined forces on reimaging the beloved Australian classic in frozen form — the Messina Lamington Gelato Bar.

It’s the definitive ode to the Aussie staple. The Messina Lamington Gelato bar is built on an opulent base of rich chocolate gelato, fluttering with chunks of desiccated coconut, and oozing with a raspberry sauce center, all held together on the foundation of a crumbling biscuit base.

“At Gelato Messina we constantly strive and push the boundaries of flavours within our gelato range,” Messina Co-owner and Head Chef, Donato Toce, said. “The Messina Lamington Gelato Bar does just that and we can’t wait for Aussies to try it!”

It’s a product that has nullified the age-old debate on whether or not the Lamington is an invention we credit to New Zealand or Australia. Yes, perhaps research proves “beyond doubt” that the coconut-laden treat originated in Wellington, but our friends across The Tasman don’t have these spritely little treats decorating the frozen section of their countdown.

These succulent little morsels are now available at Woolworths and Coles nationwide. It’ll set you back a crisp $10 for a pack of four. To celebrate, Gelato Messina will be giving away a free Lamington Gelato Bar pack to anyone who orders from Gelato Messina via UberEats.
