It’s the season for ambitious ice-cream collaborations. Artisan gelato connoisseurs Gelato Messina and stalwarts amongst the frozen delicacy scene Peters Drumstick have just announced a collab and we are not worthy.

The collaboration has spawned four impeccable flavours, drumroll, please…

Dulce de Leche: Comprised of Messina’s heavenly, opulent Dulce de Leche sauce, mixed with chocolate coated biscuit pieces. It’s a classic, through and through.

Roasted Hazelnut: Don’t be fooled by its humble name. It’s only the finest god damn Hazelnut gelato your palette will ever embrace. Gorgeous hazelnut sauce is swirled through with tastefully rich chocolate gelato. For the finishing touch, the cones are topped with roasted hazelnuts all the way from Cortemilia in Italy. It’s as authentic as it gets folks. You’ll be ma che vuoi-ing your way through the whole packet.

Vanilla Bean: It’s time we stop referring to things that are boring as being “vanilla”. Vanilla is a complex flavour that we, quite frankly, take for granted. We need to stop belittling Vanilla, it does so much for us and asks for so little. This collaboration consists of threefold vanilla bean ice cream, topped with sweet & salty peanut praline and dark chocolate sauce.

Kensington Pride Mango: For our final act we have our Kensington Pride Mango flavour. Fashion by succulent Kensington Pride mango sorbet that lovingly and sumptuously embraces Murray River Salted Coconut sorbet. The ice-cream is then swirled with Kensington Pride Mango sauce and topped with toasted coconut flakes. You know that it’s going to be a sensory escapade when the ingredients have regions attached to their names.

The Peters Drumstick X Messina range is available now at your local supermarket. It’s not available in Messina stores. Even if it was you wouldn’t be indulging in any of these flavours because apple crumble is clearly Messina’s superior offering.
