Ministry of Sound are bringing their legendary club night to Sydney, with Ministry of Sound Club Australia set to launch at the Ivy (where else?) on June 10.

Ministry of Sound has a long and storied history, being the UK’s first superclub solely dedicated to dance music upon its launch in late 1991. The guiding rule of the nights are “the music comes first”, and that tradition is set to continue with both Peking Duk and US house legend Sandy Rivera playing at the launch night.

“We’re very excited at the opening of a Ministry of Sound club in Sydney,” Jonathan Bevan, CEO of Ministry of Sound says of the launch. “It’s long been an ambition as our fan-base is so strong in Australia.  ivy is a stunning venue and we’re looking forward to many amazing clubbing moments there.”

“Ministry of Sound in London is a world-renowned venue and has been the destination for lovers of dance music for over 25 years”, adds Tim McGee, CEO of MoS Australia.

“We are now going to bring that same experience and ethos to Sydney”, he continues. “We will be implementing a forward-thinking music policy and making Ministry of Sound Club a haven for good music and a home for both international and Australian artists to connect with their fans. Ministry of Sound Club will be the ultimate destination for true lovers of dance music.”

It’s worth noting that Ivy sits well within the lock-out zone, and is yet to receive permission to trade under the extended hours granted to numerous other venues in the area. Still, it’s hard to imagine the club didn’t apply for the extension, so I’m sure this will be rectified soon.

Tickets for Ministry of Sound Club’s launch night are on sale now. Here comes the drop…
