To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Australian TV icon Mr Squiggle, The Royal Australian Mint are releasing a collection of $2 coins. The collection will feature characters Blackboard, Gus the Snail, Bill Steamshovel and of course, Mr Squiggle in all his glory.
The coins were released through Woolworth’s registers on Wednesday.
Rebecca Hetherington, daughter of the creator Norman Hetherington, has shared “The coins perfectly represent Mr Squiggle’s fun and imaginative view of the world, attributes he shared with my father. I’m excited to share this opportunity with Australians who have grown up with him and remember him fondly, and also to introduce Mr Squiggle to a new generation.”

There will also be a limited edition coin album, four $2 coins, two $1 coins and a 1 cent coin available for purchase.
Mr Squiggle and Friends made its television debuted in 1959 and ran until 1999. Forty whole years of entertaining kids by transforming their shitty scribbles into respectable drawings with his nose. I just hope he was getting paid well.
