The trailer for Marvel’s Disney+ series Ms. Marvel is out, and fans are not happy with the change in Ms. Marvel’s powers.
If there’s a new show, there are opinions. And fans, apparently, are not happy with Ms. Marvel’s powers being changed in the first trailer for Marvel’s new Disney+ show, Ms. Marvel.
In the original comics, Kamala Khan, or Ms. Marvel – as she is known – has pretty neat shape-shifting powers. Not only can she extend her limbs, but also change her appearance at will and manipulate the size of any of her body parts to land hits on enemies or move about.
In the comics, she receives these powers due to the Terrigen Mist. After Black Bolt releases said mist into Earth’s atmosphere, exposure to it awakens the Inhuman ability in Kamala, leading to her becoming a superhero.
In the first trailer for the Marvel’s new Disney+ series, named after the titular character, however, fans were baffled to find that her original powers were combined with some form of telekinesis, which enabled her to release energy from her hands to close a door, or create things out of thin air.
Needless to say, fans have opinions about this change, particularly because Kamala’s powers are a huge part of her origin story. Her powers have also drawn comparisons to DC’s Green Lantern, who could also manipulate energy at will to create “constructs”, objects that he could use as he pleased.
“I’m (sic) mean the embiggen powers alone are literally apart of her personal growth as a hero… to the casual Ms. Marvel fan this trailer was probably really good but for me they took out a vital part of what makes her journey special idk #MsMarvel.” said user @ClayReels on Twitter.

The embiggening is still there, it's just presented as a mystical power rather than stretchy skin. pic.twitter.com/Ra55mLMAbZ
