Keep Sydney Open, the movement opposing the lockout laws that have crippled Sydney’s entertainment scene, will host its first night rally this Saturday.
The rally will march through Kings Cross, perhaps the suburb most severely affected by venue closures in the wake of the lockout laws’ introduction in 2014.
It will feature a performance from leading Sydney party band Flight Facilities, who trace their roots back to meeting in Kings Cross nine years ago.
In December, the New South Wales Government acted on the recommendations of the Callinan review in pushing back the lockouts by a mere 30 minutes for eligible live music venues. Those venues can now apply for exemptions as of today.
