Some people just want to watch the world burn… in silence and from the privacy of their waterfront penthouses.
After ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Crowded House played the first of four triumphant homecoming concerts on the steps of the Sydney Opera House last night, it seems some residents of the much-maligned ‘Toaster’ building next door have spilt some tears into their caviar.
Apparently misquoting an onstage jibe from frontman Neil Finn about broadcaster Alan Jones, Twitter user and Toaster resident @whittonNicole started a flame war with the legendary songwriter.
@NeilFinn get your facts right Alan Jones fought to get rid of lock out laws. You Dickhead

@NeilFinn I live in the Toaster you said he is fighting to keep the lock out laws you have no idea I guess you are jealous of where we live

Following recent reports of complaints from the Toaster’s wealthy residents about live concerts being held outside the Opera House – who’d have thought you might hear some music after you move in next door to the world’s most recognisable concert venue? – Finn himself was quick to hit back on Twitter.
Ah, you live in the Toaster …look forward to annoying you for 3 more nights https://t.co/7TsHnbaSaY

Actually I imagine some of the nearby residents to the SOH might be enjoying the music and I wish them well .

Of course, Twitter is a better platform than most at giving a voice to the already entitled, so Whitton was keen to have the last say…
@NeilFinn I must say give the music away you sound so old last night it was an embarrassment I must say you put me to sleep thankyou

Crowded House play at the Sydney Opera House for three more nights, Friday November 25 until Sunday November 27.
