Last year, the Coen brothers (Inside Llewyn Davis, No Country For Old Men) announced that a Western anthology series for Netflix was in the works. Unfortunately The Ballad of Buster Scruggs will no longer be a series but we’ll still be able to witness it in all its glory, as a full-length film.

The film is set to premiere at Venice Film Festival, which kicks off next month. It’ll hit Netflix by the end of the year and will also be released in theatre (a requirement for Oscar consideration).

The film stars Tim Blake Nelson, Zoe Kazan, Liam Neeson and Tom Waits. It’ll also be the Coens first venture into digital camera territory for the directing duo. Composer Carter Burwell is reportedly going to be behind the score, who has worked with the Coen’s since 1984, but you may recognise him for his iconic Twilight Saga moment.

Very little is known about the storyline of the project.
