Last year, fans of their own childhoods were overjoyed by the NES Classic Edition, a compact version of the ’80s console, pre-loaded with a bunch of games.
In a one up for mankind, they have now announced a Classic Edition of the Super Nintendo, with 21 games preloaded, including big-hitters such as Donkey Kong Country, The Legend of Zelda, Mega Man X, Street Fighter II Turbo, Mario Kart, Star Fox, Super Mario World, Yoshi’s Island and more. There’s also F-Zero, but that game was rubbish.
There is even Super Mario RPG, the game Australians were tormented by in the ’90s with previews and screenshots, but which never saw the light of day here.
The system will retail for US$79.99, and like the NES version, the preloaded games are all there is, without an option to add any more.
Still, if you told ’90s-you that you’d be able to get 21 great games, plus the console and two controllers for around $100, you’ve have spat out your Dyno-mite Milk and quoted Hanging With Mr. Cooper or something.
It’ll be out September 29. Check out the games below this awesome compilation of commercials.
