Lashana Lynch will be the new 007 (as if it wasn’t obvious enough from the trailers) but it seems like some folk are taking issue with the fact that she’s Black and female.
It’s going to be a while before we finally see Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond in No Time To Die, but the trailers have made it pretty clear that his successor as 007 will be none other than Lashana Lynch.
This is big development in the James Bond universe as the Captain Marvel actress be the first woman, Black or white, to play the 007 character.
Now unsurprisingly, a lot of folks on the internet objected to Lynch replacing Craig as 007 following No Time To Die, so much so that she copped a torrent of abuse for it because she’s not a straight white dude who is overflowing with masculinity, testosterone, and a dash of misogyny.
Talking about her role in No Time To Die in a recent interview, Lynch basically confirmed (again) that she will be the new 007 and the ridiculous outrage was so bad that she “deleted her social-media apps, meditated, and saw no one but family” according to Harper’s Bazaar.
The actress noted that the attacks weren’t necessarily about her personally but more because she’s Black and a woman, two things that seem to trigger angry white dudes a lot these days.
“I am one Black woman – if it were another Black woman cast in the role, it would have been the same conversation, she would have got the same attacks, the same abuse,” said Lynch. “I just have to remind myself that the conversation is happening and that I’m a part of something that will be very, very revolutionary.”

It’s just awful that Lynch has had to put up with all this crap from entitled folks trying to act as gatekeepers to James Bond.
We’ll see how it all plays out when Lynch starts ordering vodka martinis (shaken not stirred) when No Time To Die drops on April 2nd, 2021, assuming that it doesn’t get delayed again, but I have no doubt she’ll nail the role and make a great 007.
