The Hollywood Reporter’s sources corroborate the rumor of a May release for the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Yesterday, when the Obi-Wan Kenobi comic series was announced, Disney+ Enterprise/Global Program Manager Brandon SanGiovanni accidentally revealed that Obi-Wan Kenobi will release on the streaming platform in May 2022.

SanGiovanni later walked back on this post, claiming he was referencing the announced Obi-Wan Kenobi comic series. THR’s report says they saw this tweet and their source corroborates the release date. SanGiovanni has since locked his Twitter page, and I imagine is stressing a bit about his role at Disney going forward.

An exact date for the premiere isn’t set, although fans expect it to release on May 4. A trailer is likely to appear once The Book of Boba Fett series wraps up on February 9.

This is arguably the most anticipated Star Wars project since The Force Awakens and will see the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. Kathleen Kennedy has teased the series will have the “rematch of the century”, although this could be a Force vision or a dream sequence.

Luke Skywalker is also expected to appear in the series with Obi-Wan’s sole job being to protect Luke. Somehow this will lead Obi-Wan on a ‘rollicking adventure across multiple planets.

The series takes place 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and is expected to be 6 episodes. Outside of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, it stars Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Sung Kang Benny Safdie, Rupert Friend, Simone Kessell, and O’Shea Jackson Jr.

Sung Kang even revealed his character will have a lightsaber, indicating he’s playing one of the Inquisitors sent to hunt down the surviving Jedi from Order 66. Moses Ingram was also spotted doing lightsaber training.

The Brag will keep you updated on all things Star Wars as we get closer to the series’ release.
