Last year our Government switched out the CTP Green Slip scheme, which you can read all about here if dense bureaucracy is your jam, but the bottom line is: car rego will be cheaper and easier, and — much more importantly — 4.2 million people with vehicles registered in N.S.W are now eligible for a refund. One of those money refunds, too!

If you registered a privately-owned vehicle before November 31, 2017, you should be able to claim a chunk of change.

You need to register for a MyServiceNSW Account, go to ‘Dashboard’, and then link your account to ‘Roads’ (it’ll make sense once you are there).

As with all governmental sites, it is clunky, non-intuitive, and had problems with excess traffic (vehicle pun!) when loading, but most of those wrinkles have been ironed out by now (laundry metaphor).

There’s a $10 admin fee (which is insanity, but still) so if your refund is less than that, don’t bother.

Spend it on fluffy dice.
