Following an important trade discussion between Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and English Prime Minister Borris Johnson, us Aussies will finally be able to pick up the hallowed Penguin Biscuit ourselves.
Last month saw both prime ministers civilly duel it out over an important trade discussion which saw United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Borris Johnson state, “I want a world in which we send you Marmite, you send us Vegemite, we send you Penguins and you send us, with reduced tariffs, these wonderful Arnott’s Tim Tams.”
Well, it looks like his plea must’ve been a success, as Australians will now get to try the hallowed Penguin Biscuits for themselves, as they’re hitting shelves tomorrow.
Apparently dubbed as the original Tim Tam, Penguin Biscuits were created 31 years prior, and are a bit longer and crunchier than your standard choccy bikkie. Although they’ve been rivals for the past years, you’ll now be able to tuck into them simultaneously.
Hitting Coles shelves from July 22nd, the packet will have six delicious biscuits for you bite into, retailed at an easy $2.80.
McVitie’s Developer Chef Mark Schomberg has noted the distinct difference us Tim Tam lovers will notice is “the crunch factor” as they “audibly crack when they hit your teeth, whilst still having that delicious chocolate coating, double biscuit layering and chocolate cream filling.”
Forget slamming these bad boys like you would a Tim Tam, as Schomberg states that the proper way to treat Penguin Biscuits is to do the Penguin Dip:

“We’ve noticed some rather questionable and lurid tea-drinking performances from our Southern cousins, where we would just dip and sip, in an act called the Penguin Dip.”
So, whether you’re an ex-pat, or an Aussie who’s just ready to try something different, you’ll be able to snap up a packet of these tomorrow.
“For ex-pats, this is your chance to get your beloved Penguins back. For Australians, a chance to try our British work of perfection.”
