Fans are calling out Peter Farrelly for making fun of Zac Efron’s face over plastic surgery rumours, considering the history behind them.
In a recent interview with ET, Zac Efron was asked about why he felt like he had to dispel rumours that he’d gotten plastic surgery. But before he could clarify, director Peter Farrelly intervened and made a pretty mean remark about Efron’s face. “If he was going to get plastic surgery, he wouldn’t get that.” Farrelly pointed to Efron’s face.
Major faux pas if there ever was one: Efron then went on to reveal that the change in his jawline was the result of a jaw reconstruction surgery after almost dying from an accident that shattered it. This wasn’t the first time he’d talked about the accident, but it was one of the few where he’d addressed how serious the incident was.
“It was funny. It sucks. I almost died, but we’re good.” he said in the interview.
While Efron has said in the past that he doesn’t care about what people think, fans are coming to his defence and pointing out that what Farrelly said was absolutely out of line, more so because Efron’s accident has been in public information for some time now.
“What is wrong with peter farrelly? what the fuck,” said one Twitter user.

Other fans pointed out how Farrelly’s comments were particularly insensitive given how open Efron has been about his body image issues.
“He’s openly spoken about his life being destroyed by body dysmorphia since he was a teenager why do people not know how to communicate,” the fan said.

So Zac Efron was doing an interview and was asked about whether he altered his face (WHY SO RUDE) and the fucking director of his newest film took a jab at him, all for Zac to respond that he almost died.
GREAT WORK, EVERYONE. https://t.co/jGVr3H0O1Z

Can You imagine if he did die? Would people feel better that he is not longer here but died being gorgeous? He looks amazing to me and thank God he is healthy, happy and Alive. That's What matter the most to me, it's good to see how people is showing who are the real ones. https://t.co/vGBK1LhjUt

That comment by him was uncalled for 😬 what if Zac is actually really insecure about it? I’m glad he’s not on SM much so he won’t see what people are saying but the director didn’t have to say that. https://t.co/0KBqcoXzQh
