America’s renowned political satirist P.J. O’Rourke is heading to Sydney to give his talk Dangerous State Of The Nation – his take on the upcoming US election.

O’Rourke is famous for his witty observations and his gonzo-style view on US politics. Recently, he gave Hillary Clinton an endorsement in his typical style:

“I endorse Hillary Clinton for President. She is the second-worst thing that could happen to America. I endorse her. And all her pomps. And all her empty promises. Better the devil you know than the Lord of the Flies on his own 757.”

In his student days, O’Rourke was a self-described left-leaning hippie, but has since emerged as a political observer with libertarian views. He has written for several underground publications, includingThe Rip Off Review Of Western CultureandHarry And The New York Ace, before joiningNational Lampoonas managing editor.

O’Rourke has also penned 18 books, includingParliament Of WhoresandGive War A Chance, which both reached number one on The New York Times bestseller list.

O’Rourke will speak at the Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House on Tuesday August 9. Tickets start from $40 plus booking fee. See more information here. Tickets go on sale from Friday July 1 on the event website.
