Good news PlayStation fans, because Discord integration is now available on PS5 and PS4.
PlayStation and Discord first announced their partnership in May 2021 but further details had been scarce until now. The chat app confirmed the news in a blog post announcing that the option to connect PSN accounts is “gradually rolling out to U.S. Discord users with additional countries soon to follow.”
“If you’ve ever connected your Discord account to another service that allows you to display your activity, it works similarly here: once your Discord account is linked, the game you’re currently playing on either PS4 or PS5 will be shown as your activity,” the blog post states.
Moving forward, players will be given the option of displaying their PSN ID on their Discord profile, which will make it easier for online friends to join gaming sessions. “It’s especially great for knowing if your friend is currently playing a game that supports cross-play on another platform,” as the blog post explains.
To access the new feature, players will initially need to link their PSN accounts via the Discord app on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and the web app. The option to add a PlayStation account will be located under User Settings > Connections. From there, users can then sign into their Sony account and begin sharing their status.
The blog post also explains that “your ‘PSN Online Status’ and ‘Now Playing’ visibility must be set to ‘Anyone’ for your status to be visible on Discord.”
“Whether you stick to single-player games or enjoy having your friends join in on multiplayer endeavours, your friends from all over the world will be able to see all sorts of PlayStation games you’re playing and start a conversation about wanting to jump in and play with you,” as the blog post adds.
