Police have released CCTV footage of the man accused of the vicious attack on The Growl bassist Marc Earley.

The band was in Oportos on Oxford Street about 3:30am on February 3, a few hours after playing at Laneway Festival show when the suspect allegedly launched an unprovoked attack. Earley’s injuries include a broken finger which, despite surgery, may never recover enough movement for Earley to resume playing guitar.

In the footage, the man walks up to a fast food restaurant counter and appears to order food while wiping his hands repeatedly.

He has been described as being in his 40s, olive complexioned with short brown hair, and about 178 centimetres tall. At the time of the attack he was wearing shorts and a light blue teeshirt.
