It’s been reported that one of Gogglebox Australia‘s most popular stars has died.

As per news.com.au, Di Kershaw, who appeared on the show from its start alongside husband Mick, has passed away after a short illness.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford revealed the sad news live on-air on 3AW this morning. “She’s been sick sadly for a couple of months now, so condolences to Mick and the entire family. She was great talent – the producers struck gold when they found her,” he said.

Di and Mick appeared on every season of Gogglebox Australia, the Indigenous art dealers becoming hugely popular for their acid tongues and sassy remarks. Di was the more outspoken of the two, always able to deliver a memorable line about Australia’s favourite TV shows.

As their official show bio explains, Di and Mick first met on Sydney’s Northern Beaches when the former was just a teenager. “Di, a former model, convinced Mick to give up his high-flying career as an advertising executive in order to follow their passion for art. They opened their own art gallery and dealership and 30-years later, the business is still going strong,” the bio adds.

Di and Mick have an artist son living in the U.S., while their daughter recently married in Italy. In 2020, she was awarded the Order of Medal of Australia (OAM) for her longtime contributions to the visual arts.

Di and her husband briefly stopped appearing on Gogglebox Australia that year due to COVID-19 restrictions. “This is a very, very crazy world that we live in and actually I did suggest we should have a new TV show called Survivor: In The Home,” she said at the time. The couple were back on board by the following season though.
