Western Sydney’s Powerhouse Youth Theatre will present Tribunal, a new performance project telling the parallel stories of indigenous Australia and newly arrived refugees.
In collaboration with Griffin Theatre Company, Tribunalbrings together indigenouselders, artists, activists, refugees and lawyers with someof PYT‘s most talented young artists and several of Australia’s most significant cultural leaders.
Together they will establish Australia’s first ‘People’s Court’ to explore and interrogate notions around the politically contentious labels of ‘refugee’ and ‘asylum seeker’. The performers and collaborators will offer provocations, thoughts and experiences in a performed conversation on issues that directly affect the community of Western Sydney.
