Fans are calling out pregnant MAFS star Martha Kalifatidis, who was seen riding in a car without a seatbelt.

MAFS star Martha Kalifatidis has found herself in hot water after a new video showed her riding in a car without seatbelts on. Kalifatidis was presumably on her way to the 2022 Melbourne Cup with her mother – Big Brother VIP star Mary Kalifatidis – and her friend Maya Entwisle, both of whom also appeared to not be wearing their seatbelts.

Fans have called out Kalifatidis for her actions, not least because the star is currently expecting, and raised concerns about the message the video sends to younger impressionable fans.

“Not wearing a seatbelt is equivalent to not wearing a helmet,” said one fan on the video. In screenshots taken from the video in question as well as others, neither Kalifatidis nor her mother and friend appear to ever be wearing seatbelts, making the backlash more intense.

Other fans, however, have pointed out that since the three used a maxi-taxi to commute, they could have had lap seatbelts which may not have been visible in the videos.

This is not the first time a Married At First Sight star has accrued backlash for disregarding road safety laws. Just a few days ago, Martha’s fellow MAFS star Ella Ding was called out for not wearing a helmet while riding a scooter in Bali.

Shortly after Ding posted a video on her social media where she very clearly was not wearing a helmet on a moving vehicle, Australian radio personality Annabelle Brett slammed her and urged followers to not ‘follow the lead’ of influencers such as her.

“People drink drive, speed, and there’s no way to know the roads, as well as locals. You cause traffic and incidents because of this. Also, it’s illegal there. Don’t break the law,” she said.
