Former president of the United States of America George HW Bush has died, aged 94 ABC reports. Bush served one term as president from 1989-1993. He was famous for Operation Desert Storm and banning Broccoli from The White House.
In his career the president also served as CIA director, a congressman, and Ronald Reagan’s vice president. His wife Barbara Bush passed away earlier this year. Their 73 year marriage was the longest presidential marriage in history.
George HW Bush was the last president who served in World War II and his presidency served as the end of a political era. His eldest son George was also the 43rd President of the United States.

In his time as the 41st president Bush sanctioned the gulf war under the operation name “Desert Storm”. This was followed a decade later by his son’s choice to invade Iraq.
In his later years of life Bush had developed a form of Parkinson’s disease and used a wheelchair and electronic scooter for mobility. His cause of death has not been announced. Watch footage of Bush banning broccoli from The White House below.
