In super exciting music and beauty crossover news, the world is about to receive an official Prince makeup collection inspired by his legacy, his charisma and his larger than life genius. And of course, a whole lot of purple.

The collection has been created with Urban Decay’s co-founder, Wende Zomnir, who also doubles as a longtime Prince fan. She worked alongside Prince’s artistic team to bring the collection into existence including creative director Trevor Guy, photographer and director Randee St. Nicholas, as well as Damaris Lewis who stars as the collection’s face.

As reported by Dazed Beauty, Zomnir said in a statement, “We couldn’t possibly imitate someone as legendary as Prince, and to compare him to a palette would diminish who he was.”

She continued, “It’s easy to say why this collection makes sense on the surface – his makeup looks and our shared love of purple – but we did our best to embody his energy on a deeper level. We found his ethos of not asking permission to be who he was and owning it so boldly aligned with our values of breaking the mould and championing all forms of beauty.”

While the collection is yet to release, we can expected the limited capsule offering to be a total of seven pieces, featuring two eyeshadow palettes, two creamy kajal eyeliners inspired by Prince’s which are the perfect liners to recreate Prince’s iconic liner look, as well as a liquid highlighter, a multitasking make-up brush, and a waterproof translucent powder.

You can also expect a decent amount of purple, with each product also pays homage to a Prince song, a sweet touch to round off the collection.

Urban Decay shared the announcement on Instagram, writing, “With meticulous attention to detail and a constant desire for refinement and reinvention, @Prince owned his looks unapologetically, never shy to live by his own rules. ⭐️💜”
The collection will be available to purchase from from May 27 via Urban Decay. For more on this topic, follow the Prince Observer and the Fashion & Beauty Observer.
