Cult favourite film The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert is 21 this year, and the inaugural Broken Heel Festival is setting out to cast a rainbow over the Silver City.

Far West New South Wales will get a good deal more fabulous this September when a convention of drag queens arrive in Broken Hill for the first-ever Broken Heel Festival.

The festival is open to all Priscilla enthusiasts, from die-hard queens to the drag-at-heart, offering a range of activities such as a Meat Draw, Drag on Drag (playing dress-ups along the main road), Ping Pong and the Let’s Go Shopping Girls Community Market.

Organised by The Palace Hotel, where the original queens stopped over, the festival offers the opportunity to get up close and personal with writer and director of the film Stephan Elliot, as well as partaking in some genuine Aussie drag from festival hosts Philma Bocks and Art Simone.

The Broken Heel Festival is on from Friday September 11 to Sunday September 13 and is hosted by The Palace Hotel. More information and early bird tickets are available on the festival’s website.
