A dating app that caters exclusively to private school students is set to arrive in Sydney. Toffee launched in the UK last year, and claims to be the “world’s first dating app for people who were privately educated”.
“We set it up because we know people from similar backgrounds are more likely to stick together,” a description on the website reads.
Toffee founder Lydia Davis, told SMH that the app has a list of schools that users can add to if a school they attended is not featured. “We’ll then double check the school, making sure it is independent/private,” she explained. Users are asked to confirm which school they attended on the list, before they can use the application. In the same vein as Tinder and Grindr, the matchmaking happens when you swipe on someone that peaks your interest.
All these men are going to be spoilt for choice when they see the crop of Loretto Kirribilli graduates sporting fresh Edwards and Co. balayages and The Upside activewear that they have access to.
The app costs $6.99 —which is cheaper than Tinder’s paid features— and offers a free version.
“It’s a niche dating app, with 34 per cent of Australians having been privately educated,” Ms Davis said. “We felt that Australia would be the best place for us to roll out to first though as we were inundated with requests for us to launch there.”
As a tried and true derro westie who swindled their way into a private school via a scholarship, I personally can not wait to try my hand at courting St Aloysius alumni.
