PUMA is revving up the engines for one of its most exhilarating releases ever: the Speedcat OG. Originally designed for the fast-paced world of Formula 1, the Speedcat has gone on to earn its podium finish as one of the most storied silhouettes at the intersection of sneaker culture and fashion.

Introduced in 1999, the PUMA Speedcat was originally worn exclusively on the feet of Grand Prix legends. Lauded by drivers thanks to its sleek and aerodynamic design –  allowing the shoe to weigh light as a feather – it was only a matter of time before these qualities helped to see the model transcend the grid.

In 2001, the Speedcat became a part of PUMA’s lifestyle offering, changing the course of sneaker history forever. Solidified as a legitimate symbol of 2000s style, it’s still PUMA’s most sold shoe of all time. With today’s resurgence of Y2K style and the rise of archive fashion, the Speedcat has instinctually sped its way back into fashion conversations, taking over For You Pages and the streets of Paris Fashion Week alike.

To mark the occasion, PUMA hosted an exclusive high-octane event in Melbourne, which saw Collins Street’s Purple Pit venue transformed into a striking red-hued space, paying homage to the distinctive Red and Black Speecat OG colourways. A styling spectacle, the guest list featured a selection of Australia’s leading tastemakers including Sarah Ellen, Mimi Elashiry, Moe Alhassan and more – who each pulled up with Speedcat on-foot.

Now it’s your turn to hit the circuit as PUMA  unleashes the Speedcat OG in all of its Y2K glory – of course with all of the original Speedcat spec. The pinnacle of the slimline sneaker, its luxe suede uppers, low-cut design, striking embroidered PUMA toebox branding and super thin midsole bring the perfect vintage aesthetic to your ‘fit. And who can forget the Big Cat’s instantly recognisable Formstrip.
