Whether or not Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski can actually cook, remains a point of contention. Nevertheless, the man has launched an Instagram cooking show for those self-isolating amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those who have visited literally any grocery store over the past few weeks have most likely been greeted with a grim and barren landscape. If you, like I, were unprepared for the unprecedented stockpile panic of 2020, the comforting embrace of arrabiata is nothing but a distant memory. This is where Antoni, our delicious knight in shining armour is here to save us with his incredibly titled Instagram cooking show Quar Eye: Cooking Lessons in Quarantine.

The foodie king recognises that our pantries are in a state of despair and he’s made it his civic duty to hold our hand and guide us through these trying times. Whilst black beans and microwave rice pods are a fulfilling meal, we deserve a little more out of this life.

“It dawned on me that I think a lot of people in the country—in the world—are actually going through this right now, where they go to the store and they can’t find what they want,” Porowski shares at the beginning of the first episode. “But we’re stuck at home, so we might as well be able to prepare good food that’s good for us and makes us feel good.”

So far we’ve been blessed with two episodes of Quar Eye. The first saw Porowski execute a “Keep Calm-lette,” — an omelette topped with black bean salsa that was made with “whatever was left at the grocery store.” The second episode, “Zoodles with Meat S.O.S”, was a dish of Zucchini noodles (hate crime) married with a “simple af meat sauce w loads of spinach”.

Head to Antoni’s Instagram and kick off your prosperous career as Australia’s answer to Marco Pierre White.
