Australian radio host Mick Molloy has spilled the beans on his best and worst celebrity interviews.

Molloy, who has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry for decades, dished the dirt on some of the biggest names in the business during an appearance on I’ve Got News for You podcast.

The comedian and radio personality revealed that his one of his favorite interviewees was musician Sting. Molloy was effusive in his praise for the singer, saying he is “an absolutely beautiful, brilliant man”.

“I didn’t expect. When Sting came in we were all on our best behaviour and thought let’s just get this done and he would have minders and they would be telling him what to do. But he turned up on his own, he came into the studio, he did the interview and then sat around for about half an hour just chatting to us about stuff,” the Triple M host said.

“The whole time he was there, I never saw any ounce of affectation”.

He also had high praise for Jason Alexander, who played George Costanza on Seinfeld, who the radio host called “one of the nicest blokes I’ve ever met”.

However, not all of Molloy’s celebrity encounters have been positive. The radio host was scathing in his assessment of pop star Shania Twain, describing his interview with her as “horrific”.

“I’m gonna be fair here, I don’t know whether it was entirely her or the three women who were in her corner sitting inside the studio while we were interviewing and just rolling their eyes,” Molloy said.

“It was uncomfortable, it was awful, and when we do an interview we don’t like we just shut up shop really quickly,” Molloy said.

He also had harsh words for actress Dylan Moran, whom he said: “just didn’t want to be interviewed”.

“He was absolutely not interested and rude,” he said.

Despite some negative experiences, Molloy remained upbeat about his time in the industry, saying that he had been fortunate enough to meet “some of the most interesting and talented people in the world.” He also emphasized that the key to a successful celebrity interview was to “just be yourself” and “have fun.”
