An utter Aussie legend has done us all a big solid by creating a real-time tracker of PS5 and Xbox Series X stock in Australia.

The hero known as Mo created the tracker site PS5 Stock in order to monitor which retailers in Australia are currently selling both the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Given the supreme difficulty gamers have faced when attempting to nab one of the consoles, it’s no exaggeration to say Mo is doing God’s work.

Speaking to Kotaku Australia, Mo revealed they were inspired to create the site by their own struggles to purchase a PS5.

“Obviously stock is very limited in Australia and I’d missed the original preorders,” they said.

“I was sitting there one day thinking about how many people were looking for PS5s and I had something like 15 tabs open in Chrome and going through refreshing them one by one and I just thought there had to be a better way, so I decided to build it and then let everyone know about it.”

As Mo explained, creating the site didn’t come without difficulty thanks to blocks that retailer websites had in place.

“Target doesn’t let you just run automated scripts to check their website code (and for good reason, it’s good security)… so I had to rethink my code multiple different times,” they said.

“By the end of it, I had to learn 4 different languages and it took me about 3 weeks of nights (7pm-12am) to get the website up and running. I’m honestly just glad that it came out the way it did and that it’s going to be able to help people get a PS5. I have it open on a screen next to me while I’m working, wallet on standby.”

As Mo is covering all the server costs, there’s a PayPal link on the PS5 Stock website page for those who would like to chip in.

Since the site may just be the thing that helps us finally land one of the coveted consoles, it’s surely a small price to pay.
