Was a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version just accidentally leaked by a programmer?

As one of the undeniable greats of its generation, Red Dead Redemption’s 2018 sequel is one of the most anticipated games of the year – and PC gamers will be very excited by a seemingly-accidental hint from one of its developers.

As VG247 reports, one of Rockstar Games’ programmers updated their LinkedIn page with a mention of having worked on Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4, Xbox One and PC – quickly removing the mention of the PC version after it was first reported on.

The game hasn’t officially been announced for PC, but previous Rockstar titles have eventually made their way there, and this small slip seems to bode well for an eventual PC release. Grand Theft Auto V famously added a host of features to its PC version, including a first-person mode, and Grand Theft Auto online has seen enduring popularity with Steam gamers, so it would only make sense for Red Dead Redemption 2 to follow suit.

It’s the first news we’ve heard recently, with RDR2 a no-show at the recent E3 2018, but we’ll hope for a PC announcement some time between now and its October 26 release. Red Dead Redemption 2 of course follows the brilliant Red Dead Redemption, which released back in 2010 to widespread acclaim. It perfectly captured the spirit of the great cinematic Westerns, paired with gameplay that was often described as ‘Grand Theft Auto on horseback’ – a great combination.

Well-loved lead character John Marston will be returning, and the game acts as a prequel to his exploits in Red Dead Redemption, which saw him hunting down a trio of members from his former gang in an effort to protect his family – with tragic results.
