When Rent opened up in 1996, it didn’t take long to become a global phenomenon.

Jonathon Larson’s iconic musical is now coming to Sydney.

The story follows a year in the lives of young aspiring artists living in New York City’s East Village. Their lives and happiness are greatly affected by sex, drugs, and the overriding shadow of HIV/AIDS.

Hayes Theatre will provide the perfect intimate setting for the performance. Holding only 111 seats, audience members will be drawn in to the complexities of the relationships portrayed onstage, and will be forced to empathise with the traumatic situations the characters often find themselves in.

Rent will play at Hayes Theatre from Thursday October 8 – Sunday November 1.
