Ricky Gervais has announced ‘After Life’ a six-part comedy coming to Netflix, about a man whose life collapses after the death of his wife.
He becomes suicidal, and therefore decides to live without a moral compass, doing and saying as he pleases. Of course, being a Gervais creation, there will no doubt be numerous philosophical themes weaved throughout.
I start pre production on my new Netflix show tomorrow. It's a 6 part, dark comedy, in which I play a man who, after the death of his wife, becomes suicidal but decides to live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever the fuck he likes from now on. pic.twitter.com/7AwmV6rEbd

Gervais has never played a character that doesn’t say whatever he likes (Brent, Derek, Andy Millman, etc. etc.), but this premise seems darker, with a misanthropic streak driving this behaviour, rather than that of the sympathetic foolish types he often plays.
Now, for a playful Shantner burn.
🤔So basically you play yourself?🤷🏼♂️😉 https://t.co/BwMeVLYNwL
