The newest theme for our favourite dark knight has been released. Simply titled ‘The Batman’, composer Michael Giacchino isn’t afraid to explore the horrific and epic aspects of the character.

Giacchino is best known for his work on Zootopia, Jurassic World, Star Wars: Rogue One and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

And he is no stranger to the superhero genre either, scoring the soundtracks for both Marvel’s Doctor Strange and the recent mega-hit Spider-Man: No Way Home (and its predecessors).

The stand out motif has been repetitively used to great effect in the trailers for the film, slowly building up as the tension grew into its final climax.

“I felt total freedom to do whatever I want,” explained Giacchino, speaking with Collider. “This is our Batman, this is our vision… I wrote that piece that is in the teaser trailer… It was just a demo version of it, it wasn’t even done with the orchestra or anything”

“So then [Director, Matt Reeves] had been using that in every single one of his presentations at Warner Bros. He would put it behind and be like ‘Alright, here are the costumes,’ and you hear the thing.”

But now, we can finally hear the epic piece in its intended form!

A synopsis for The Batman reads:

“Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld.”

The film’s star studded cast includes Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Zoe Kravitz (Selina Kyle/Catwoman), Paul Dano (Edward Nashton/The Riddler), Colin Farrel (The Penguin), Jeffrey Wright (Jim Gordon) and Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth).

On January 20th, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that The Batman would be a whopping 2 hours and 55 minutes long.

However, you can never have too much Batman, right?

The Batman is set to be released on 3rd of March, 2022.
