The final episode of Neighbours is set to play out on our screens this week and one of the show’s longest-running stars Ryan Moloney, has revealed that he’s considering switching from acting to a surprising new career.
Moloney, who plays Jarrod ‘Toadie’ Rebecchi told Daily Telegraph currently undertaking a civil construction course.
“I’m not ruling anything out,” Moloney said. “I’m doing civil construction course which is about driving excavators and building roads.
“I like playing with those kinds of machines. I like doing earthworks, all that kind of manual labour stuff. That’s where I’m at, but who knows where it’s all going to end up?”
While most people are familiar with Moloney as an actor, the 42-year-old actually has his commercial pilots license and was planning an aviation career prior to getting his part in Neighbours.
“I wanted to be an Air Force pilot, but then I got the gig on Neighbours,” he said.
“I completed my commercial pilot’s licence a few years ago. I thought, ‘Maybe I’ll come back to (flying) when the time’s right. But after Covid, there’s all these incredibly young, skilled pilots out there, who are out of work.

“I don’t I’ll get a gig in there,” Moloney said. “We’ll just move on to the next thing.”
The veteran Neighbours actor who starred on the soap for 27 years told the Herald-Sun that saying his final line in the show left him “heartbroken” and in tears.
“This might sound corny, but knowing what’s in the finale, I’d have to say (as a fan) I’d be pretty happy with it,” he said.
He continued, “The last line that I got to say is so poignant, that as soon as I read it, I burst into tears. It was like, ‘”Oh my God, how amazing this is my last line?’”
