Fresh off the set of smash sitcom Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place, Ryan Reynolds has signed on to star in the forthcoming live action Pokemon film, Detective Pikachu.

Interestingly, Reynolds will be playing Pikachu, the adorable little guy who doesn’t actually communicate anything aside from his own name. In many of Reynolds’ films, his dialogue extends well past one word, so this will prove a challenge.

He’ll appear alongside Justice Smith from the forthcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Kathryn Newton, who was excellent in Big Little Lies.

The script was penned by Guardians of the Galaxy writers Alex Hirsch and Nicole Perlman, so this should be great.

Then again, remember the last time Nintendo tried to turn one of its games into a live-action film? It wasn’t the best…
