After Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the middle of this year’s Oscars ceremony, pretty much everyone seemed to have something to say about the debacle. Turns out, even our own prime minister Scott Morrison has an opinion on the attack that went down at the Academy Awards.

During an appearance on the Brisbane radio B105 radio show this morning, ScoMo shared his two cents about the incident that occurred between the two Hollywood heavyweights.

During the segment, one of the presenters brought up the on-stage attack, and told Morrison that they think he’d “never do it in parliament”.

ScoMo responded: “I’m also fiercely defensive of anybody who would say anything ever about Jenny too. I can understand it,” he said

“But as I think, as everybody understands, that’s not how you roll.”

The incident happened during Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony (American time) when Rock was announcing the winner of the best documentary. During his spiel, he made an offensive jibe about Will Smith’s wife’s, Jada Pinkett Smith, alopecia condition. The comedian quipped that he “couldn’t wait” to see the sequel of G.I Jane, seemingly referencing Pinkett Smith’s hair loss.

Moments later, Smith stormed onto the stage and cracked Rock in the face. He then stormed back to his front-row seat and repeatedly screamed “keep my wife’s name out of your mouth” at the comedian.

While Morrison’s comment may be perceived as a casual comment by some, there are Twitter users questioning whether his opinion on the matter was used to take some heat off himself and the recent polictical decisions he’s made.
